The Buzz on KBIS 2016 – Watch For These Kitchen and Bath Trends

By Janis Manacsa

Every year, Kitchen and Bath Designers and professionals from the remodeling industry flock to KBIS (Kitchen and Bath Industry Show) for three days of fun, creativity and inspiration! This year’s convention was held in Las Vegas, where tens of thousands of industry professionals were treated to first hand access and insights to the latest products, tools and designs that will be made available to homeowners this 2016.

The Gilmans Kitchens and Baths team attends every year, spending quality time at seminars, live demonstrations and with the representatives to understand all the new products, applications and trends.

Here are the latest trends that have been announced by key players in the industry as well as some of our own personal favorites:

  • Dramatic Tile

One of the most predominant trends we spotted everywhere was a plethora of artistic and innovative tile patterns and finishes! There were textured backsplashes, Sculptural tile with emphasis on geometric patterns and arabesques and mixed use of materials.

  • Innovative Countertop Surfaces

The leading Engineered Quartz manufacturers had huge surprises for us this year and left all of us breathless with new colors, patterns and innovative applications. Unfortunately, patents were still pending on some of the designs so photos weren’t allowed, but expect to see bigger slabs, more color and lots of amazing patterns for your countertops!

  • Lighting In Cabinetry

Lights, Camera, Action! Most cabinetry came decked out with all forms of lighting for ambiance and function. There was lighting in drawers, closets, mirrors, vanities, under cabinets, above cabinets and underneath countertops too.

  • Sinks, Plumbing Fixtures and Bathtubs

There was so much excitement over multiple finishes in plumbing fixtures, 3D faucets, bathroom sinks, kitchen sinks with an emphasis on the apron sink, and accessories.  More and more clients are looking to find ways to personalize every component of their spaces and now, they can!

  • Smart Solutions and Cabinet Organization

Roll -outs, pull – outs, pull-downs, lift – ups, bi-folds, pocket doors, sliding doors, push latches,  you name it – they had it!  Today’s kitchen is so much more than just good looks. The real “wow factor” comes from how convenient and functional your new space can be.
